You’ve decided Belize is your next vacation destination, and now you have to start planning your perfect vacation. What should you do? Where should you go? What are the “must-do’s” and “must-eats”?
We know you want your Belize vacation to be perfect. And guess what, we want the same! We want you to be able to experience the culture, the people and the natural beauty of our little jewel while having the time of your lives.
Here are 4 tips to help you plan the perfect vacation in Belize:
1. Give yourself at least 7 days.
While a weekend getaway sounds incredibly fun, we think it’s a little too short. As it is, seven days is hardly enough to truly experience everything Belize has to offer. We might be a small country the size of Massachusetts, but there’s so much to do here that you need to schedule enough time to explore and relax. If you can’t squeeze everything in within a week, it will at least give us enough time to convince you to come back!
2. Divide your time between the Mainland and the Islands.
Belize is a little gem. We boast the best of both worlds: jungle and sea! Many vacationers don’t realize how easy it is to travel between the mainland and islands. In 2 hours you could go from a jungle adventurer to a lounging beach bum and we highly recommend experiencing both worlds. In fact, the perfect vacation, in our opinion, would start with your inland adventures, such as exploring ancient Mayan caves, letting loose on a thrilling zip-line and canoeing through a meandering river. After so much fun there is no doubt that what you deserve next is sun, sand and sea. You can jump straight into it and snorkel the world’s largest living Barrier Reef, or you can sway in a hammock on the beach and do nothing at all. This combination definitely makes the perfect vacation.
3. Ask your hotel for logistics help.
Don’t be shy. Our five star hospitality is one of the main reasons Belize is becoming one of the most sought after vacation destinations. So go ahead, ask your hotel to help you with all your traveling logistics. Ask as many questions as you’d like. If you’ve picked a great resort, they’ll be more than willing to provide you with all the information you need to cut your travel time and maximize your vacation time. The staff are eager to share local tips and tricks to ensure that you catch the right bus or plane, choose the perfect tours, and eat the best local food.
4. Be brave. Try new things.
If you’ve never done it before perhaps this is the time to try it. If you’re going to come all this way, don’t expect or look for what you can find back home. Immerse yourself in the local culture, eat something you’ve never had, go somewhere you’ve never been and do something you’ve never done. Be flexible. We even recommend you leave your phone and camera behind once in a while, to truly live every new experience.
While some planning is necessary, quite often the perfect vacation moments are the ones you didn’t plan. Do you have any other tips to help plan the perfect vacation? We’d love to hear them.
