With all international flights and cruise lines arrive in Belize City, getting to the Amber Sunset Jungle Lodge is a breeze.
Guests of the resort can arrange with the resort a private transfer or choose to rent their own vehicle. It takes approximately two hours driving to arrive at Amber sunset from the international airport in Belize City.
There are two different routes to get to the resort, depending on whether or not you want to first make a stop in Belize City or head directly to Amber Sunset.
If your first destination is Belize City, follow signs in the airport for the Northern Highway. Take the Northern Highway for about 25 minutes until you arrive at a roundabout decorated with multiple flags (it’s easy to spot). Take the right-hand exit from the roundabout onto Central American Boulevard. Stay on this road for about 10 minutes until you get to another roundabout, this one decorated with a large sculpture of a human hand. Take the right-hand exit from the roundabout onto Western Highway. The resort is located at mile marker 59 on the Western Highway. Take the posted turnoff for the Amber Sunset Jungle Lodge onto a dirt road. In approximately two minutes, you will arrive at the lodge’s welcome center.
For guests arriving at the Belize City International Airport and wanting to head directly to the resort, follow the posted signs for the Northern Highway. Drive for approximately five miles on the Northern Highway until you see signs for the Boom/Hattieville junction. At the junction, take a left and drive for approximately 20 minutes until you arrive at the Hattieville roundabout. Exit the roundabout to the right onto Western Highway. Continue driving until you reach mile marker 59 and the posted turnoff for the Amber Sunset Jungle Lodge. In approximately two minutes, you will arrive at the lodge’s welcome center.
Once in Belize, you can take a domestic flight to the city of Belmopan with air carriers Maya Island Air or Tropic Air. At the Belmopan airstrip, you can choose to rent your own vehicle or arrange with the resort for shuttle service.
If you’re driving, it takes approximately 45 minutes to reach the resort from Belmopan. After leaving the airport, take a left onto the Western Highway. At mile marker 59, follow the posted signs for the Amber Sunset turnoff. In approximately two minutes, you will arrive at the lodge’s welcome center.
There are no regular bus routes that connect to Amber Sunset Jungle Lodge. The nearest village to the lodge is Unitedville in Cayo District. If you do plan on taking the bus, contact the resort about arranging for shuttle service.
